A Seven Seas of Sage Prequel

Before the sea, there was the sky. Heaven in the clouds, where Four Immortal Guardians stood watch over the Earth. Legends say that they reconvene every new moon to discuss their deeds. However, a certain dragon, the Guardian of the East, never fails to be late, and their colleagues have just about had it.
These are the unheard records of those meetings.

Episode 1: The Meeting of Four
The Four Guardians hold their bimonthly report. Assignments are issued, and White Tiger, aka General Cath, is to head to Earth again for duty. As for Sage… there's only so much unpaid overtime a dragon can handle.
Episode 2: Sage Unheard
Sage has waited 100 years and decides it's time to leave.
Episode 3: Cath Unheard
Cath has worked 100 years and decides it's time to go home.
Episode 4: And Then There Were Two
Sage is contacted by Cath, saying that the big bosses are upset about Sage abandoning their post. From sea captain to war general, certain emotions are brought forth.

Series Trailer
Welcome to a hundred years before the shipwrecks, sultans and sea sponges. Guardians Unheard is a four episode audio drama miniseries exploring Sage’s past life, as a full-time corporate deity and master procrastinator, to the dismay of their three coworkers (ahem, fellow Guardians) — Cath, Zhuque and Xuanwu.
We decided to greenlight this series in April of 2024, almost a full year after we started production on the original short film, The Seven Seas of Sage. The idea came to me when I realised we never really explored Sage's own backstory within their own titular film. It was all in my head, the image of this bored, incompetent dragon swimming through a corporate heaven, being bossed around and yelled at like your mother trying to teach you math at the dining table. And so I started writing the first and last episodes, back-to-back. My friends Theo and Megan, who were my fellow writers for the original film, came on board to help write a few episodes as well, and there we were. Back again.
It was amazing to see so many people come in and audition, to finally meet our new cast, the Guardians, who were dedicated and enthusiastic until the very end. It was also really surreal to see the 7SOS cast come back and record their lines for the final episode - a bittersweet reunion in a way. It was also an honour to have my friend Aven working on the graphics and captions, since it was their first time animating! Just seeing everyone come together to bring this to life was a fantastic experience.
